§ 62-60. Donation of leave.

  • (a)

    Any member of the city service who is on approved family and medical leave pursuant to the city's Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) policy and who has used all of his or her accumulated leave may request the establishment of a leave pool in order to receive donations of annual leave or earned personnel leave from other city employees.

    (b)

    The human resources director or designee may authorize the establishment of such a leave pool.

    (c)

    Any member of the city service who is entitled to receive and use annual leave or earned personnel leave may authorize to be charged to his or her accrued leave and have such leave transferred to an authorized leave pool for an employee on approved family and medical leave who has used all his or her accumulated leave.

    (d)

    Such leave will be credited to the leave pool in the order in which the leave donation forms were received in the human resources department.

    (e)

    Donated leave will be credited to the leave pool only in such increments necessary to cover the employee's absence while on approved family and medical leave. Any excess donations will not be charged to the donating employee or credited to the leave pool.
