§ 50-3. Fines established for late return of library books, materials and video recordings; charges established for lost or damaged books, materials and video recordings.

  • (a)

    Books, materials and video recordings owned by the city public library for the use and enjoyment of the general public shall be borrowed by the public with the authorization of and pursuant to the rules established by the library director. Books, materials and video recordings borrowed shall be returned to the library on or before the due date established therefor by the library director.

    (b)

    Failure to return any borrowed materials on or before the due date for such item shall result in a fine accruing until the item is returned in good and useable condition. The condition of returned items shall be determined by the library director. Fines shall be established by resolution of the city commission.

    (c)

    Books, materials and video recordings which are lost by the borrower or which are returned in a damaged condition such that the item can no longer, in the discretion of the library director, be used by the public shall result in a charge established by resolution of the city commission.
