§ 18-2. Penalties.

  • (a)

    Any person, or agent of any person, who neglects, fails or refuses to comply with or violates any of the provisions of this article, or any of the codes adopted in this article, or fails to comply therewith or with any of the requirements thereof, or is found in violation of a detailed statement or plan submitted and approved shall be subject to punishment as provided in sections 1-13 and/or chapter 26, article III of this Code. Each time such person neglects, fails, or refuses to comply with any of the provisions of this article, it shall be deemed a separate offense and punished as provided in this section.

    (b)

    The imposition of penalties prescribed in this section shall not preclude the city attorney from instituting an appropriate action or proceeding to prevent an unlawful construction, alteration, erection, repair, conversion, maintenance or use, or to restrain, correct or abate a violation, or prevent the occupancy of a building, structure or premises, or to prevent an illegal act, conduct, business or use in or about any premises.
