§ 5.05. Notice of elections.

  • The regular election of ity ommission shall be held on the second Tuesday in March by citywide vote of the city electors.

    The entire electorate of the city shall be entitled to vote in elections for mayor and city commission.

    The candidate for the offices of mayor and city commissioner receiving a majority of the votes validly cast shall be declared elected. If, in any election, no candidate receives this majority in the first election, a second election, limited to the two (2) candidates for mayor or city commissioner receiving respectively the highest and the next highest number of votes in the first election, shall be held on the fourteenth (14) day after the first election, and the candidate receiving the higher number of votes in the second election shall be declared elected.

    Special municipal elections and referenda shall be held in the same manner as the regular city election except that the city commission, by ordinance, shall fix the time of holding such special elections and referenda.
