§ 86-146. Maximum speed generally.

  • (a)

    As defined in this division the term "residence districts" shall mean the territory contiguous to and including a highway, not comprising a business district, when the property on such highway, for a distance of 300 feet or more, is in the main, improved with residences or residences and buildings in use for business. (F.S. § 316.183.)

    (b)

    As defined in this division, the term "traffic calmed" shall mean the combination of mainly physical measures that reduce the negative effects of motor vehicle use, alter driver behavior and improve conditions for nonmotorized street users. Such physical measures shall include any street in the city that has been reconstructed or retrofitted with physical measures that meet the objectives of this subsection.

    (c)

    The speed limit in this city shall be a maximum of 30 miles per hour upon all streets and ten miles per hour on all city alleys, except as this chapter or other city ordinance or regulation, as authorized by state law, declares and determines that certain speed regulations shall be applicable upon specified streets or in certain areas, in which event it shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a speed in excess of any speed so declared when signs are in place giving notice thereof.
