In the event an elected trustee of the retirement system ceases to be employed by
the city, or should any appointed or elected trustee fail to attend scheduled meetings
of the board for three consecutive meetings, unless in each case excused by the remaining
trustees attending such meeting, he shall be considered to have resigned from the
board and the board shall, by resolution, declare his office of trustee vacated as
of the date such resolution is adopted. If a vacancy occurs in the office of trustee,
the vacancy shall be filled, within 60 days after the date of the vacancy, for the
unexpired portion of the term, in the same manner as the office was previously filled.
