§ 62-63. Other leaves.
(a)
Jury duty, etc. All employees shall be entitled to sufficient leave with pay to respond to jury duty or to answer a subpoena or other order or command of a court of competent jurisdiction. All fees received for such service shall be retained by such member.
(b)
Leave with pay for death in the immediate family . An employee may be granted up to a maximum of five days paid leave due to a death in their immediate family. The term "immediate family" shall mean spouse, registered domestic partner (defined as a person with whom the employee shares a residence and within the context of a committed relationship), registered domestic partner's parents, registered domestic partner's child, registered domestic partner's grandparent, natural, adopted, foster or step-child, parent, step-parent, parent-in-law, brother, sister, step-brother or step-sister, grandparent, step grandparent, step grandchild, grandparent of spouse or registered domestic partner's grandparents, grandchild, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, any person for whom the employee is a legal guardian, and a sole dependent residing in the same household if such sole dependent is an allowable deduction pursuant to the Internal Revenue Service.
