§ 62-52. Longevity increases in salary.

  • (a)

    Employees who shall have completed the required years of continuous service, indicated below, shall be entitled to longevity pay as follows:

    Years of Continuous
    Service
    Longevity Pay
    10 years ..... 5% of base pay
    20 years ..... 10% of base pay

     

    Such percentage increases shall not apply to overtime pay.

    (b)

    As used in this section, the term "continuous service" shall mean employment in the city service without break or interruption. Layoffs not exceeding one year, absence on authorized military leave, educational leave, vacation or annual leave, sick leave or other leave or lawful extension thereof, or reinstatement in accordance with civil service rules, shall not affect continuity of service.

    (c)

    All non-represented general employees with less than ten years of service as of October 1, 2009 will not be eligible for longevity increases in salary. All non-represented general employee new hires will not be eligible for longevity increases in salary. All non-represented general employees who have more than ten years, but less than 20 years of service as of October 1, 2009 will continue to receive a five percent longevity increase in salary, but will not be eligible for a longevity increase in salary when they reach 20 years of service. All non-represented general employees who have more than 20 years of service will continue to receive a ten percent longevity increase in salary.
