§ 58-49. Qualifications of members.

  • (a)

    A city commissioner shall be appointed to serve as a liaison between the parks and recreation advisory committee and the city commission. Parks and recreation advisory committee members shall represent education, neighborhood associations, local businesses, and community based organizations which can contribute to the improvement of the city's parks and open spaces and to the ethnic, racial and cultural diversity of the city. The director of parks and recreation may participate in all meetings of the parks and recreation advisory committee, but shall not serve as a member of the parks and recreation advisory committee.

    (b)

    Members of the parks and recreation advisory committee shall serve without compensation. Vacancies in the membership of the parks and recreation advisory committee shall be filled within 30 days in the same manner as original appointments.

    (c)

    Members of the parks and recreation advisory committee shall be reimbursed for pre-approved travel expenses in accordance with the city's travel reimbursement policy in effect from time to time.
