§ 54-61. Distribution of handbills, samples, etc.
It shall be unlawful for any person to put upon any automobile or other motor vehicle any handbills, cards, circulars, tickets, samples of merchandise or any other kind of advertising material advertising a business or commercial activity or enterprise. Furthermore, the practice of distributing such advertising material by leaving such material at stores, offices or private residences, not having been requested or instructed to do so by the owner or occupant of the building, is hereby declared to be unlawful and a nuisance; provided, however, that this section shall not be construed to prevent persons from distributing advertisements of their own business through the United States mail and provided, further, that this section shall not be construed as preventing the dissemination of any religious, political or educational matter within the city.
