§ 50-36. Duties and responsibilities.
The duties and responsibilities of the library advisory board may include the following:
(1)
As to communication and community relations:
a.
Maintain awareness of the activities of the library.
b.
Participate in an information exchange with neighborhood associations and local business organizations, such as the downtown development authority and the chamber of commerce.
c.
Maintain an informal public relations effort to improve and promote the public image of the library. This effort should include, but not be limited to, communicating library issues to local communities, schools and businesses.
(2)
As to cooperation:
a.
Serve as liaison between the library and the city commission.
b.
Serve as liaison between neighborhood associations, local businesses and the city.
(3)
As to legislation:
a.
Develop recommendations to the city commission regarding actions which may be taken in support of the library.
b.
Develop recommendations to the city commission regarding proposed legislation at the state level.
(4)
As to funding:
a.
Support the library director in identifying and attracting state and federal programs and grants in direct support of the library.
b.
Support the library director in identifying any other opportunities for funding in direct support of the library.
