§ 46-71. Established; composition; qualifications of members; tenure; vacancies; attendance at meetings.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created and established the criminal justice advisory committee consisting of seven members appointed by the mayor. Members of the criminal justice advisory committee shall be residents of the city.

    (b)

    Membership on the criminal justice advisory committee shall reflect the ethnic and cultural diversity of the population of the city. Each of the five city commission districts shall be represented on the criminal justice advisory committee.

    (c)

    Four of the initial members of the criminal justice advisory committee appointed shall serve a term of one year and three shall serve a term of two years. Thereafter all terms shall be two years.

    (d)

    Members shall attend all regular and special meetings of the criminal justice advisory committee. A vacancy shall be deemed to exist when a member fails to attend three consecutive meetings of the committee without excuse. The mayor shall appoint to fill a vacancy on the criminal justice advisory committee within 20 days of its occurrence.
