§ 30-8. Canvassing board.

  • (a)

    For every regular and special election held within the city there is hereby created a canvassing board which board shall canvass returns of all city elections in the manner provided for the canvassing of returns of state and county elections pursuant to F.S. chs. 101 and 102 to the extent that such provisions are applicable to the canvassing of returns for elections held by the city.

    (b)

    The canvassing board shall consist of the city clerk, the city administrator and the city attorney, or their designee in the event of their absence. The city commission by resolution shall have the option to delegate the duties of the canvassing board to the county canvassing board or to the county supervisor of elections.

    (c)

    The canvassing board shall canvass or review the returns of each election and shall issue a certificate signed by all board members which certifies the results as set forth in the same manner as the county canvassing board pursuant to F.S. chs. 101 and 102. Such certificate shall be recorded in the minutes of any meeting of the city commission held following the filing of the certificate in the city clerk's office.

    (d)

    Execution of the certification shall constitute an adjournment of the canvassing board for such particular election.
