The city commission, by majority vote, may designate any member of the city commission,
including the mayor, to the position of liaison to a city committee or board, or the
board or committee of a governmental entity outside the city. The city commission
may also designate a liaison to a special project by majority vote. Only the mayor
or a commissioner may serve in a liaison position and may hold more than one liaison
position. The designation of liaison shall be at the pleasure of the city commission
for a period of time not to extend past the next city election, except those appointments
that have a term longer than one year. The designation of a liaison member may be
withdrawn or changed at any time by majority vote of the city commission without cause.
Designations of liaisons shall be in writing by the mayor and filed with the city
clerk. No commission liaison shall have a vote on any city committee or board, nor
serve as chairman or vice-chairman of any committee or board unless otherwise provided
by law.
