§ 2-62. Liaison positions.

  • The city commission, by majority vote, may designate any member of the city commission, including the mayor, to the position of liaison to a city committee or board, or the board or committee of a governmental entity outside the city. The city commission may also designate a liaison to a special project by majority vote. Only the mayor or a commissioner may serve in a liaison position and may hold more than one liaison position. The designation of liaison shall be at the pleasure of the city commission for a period of time not to extend past the next city election, except those appointments that have a term longer than one year. The designation of a liaison member may be withdrawn or changed at any time by majority vote of the city commission without cause. Designations of liaisons shall be in writing by the mayor and filed with the city clerk. No commission liaison shall have a vote on any city committee or board, nor serve as chairman or vice-chairman of any committee or board unless otherwise provided by law.
