Article II. CERTIFICATE OF USE |
§ 22-32. Certificate of use required.
(a)
It shall be unlawful for any person either directly or indirectly, to engage in or to conduct any business, as defined by this article, in the city, without first making application for, and having obtained, a certificate of use.
(b)
As of the effective date of the ordinance from which this article derives, all existing businesses holding a valid business tax receipt shall be considered to have an active certificate of use and shall not be subject to the initial fee. However, all business locations requiring a certificate of use shall be subject to the annual renewal fee, as provided in this article, commencing upon September 30, 2000. Nothing contained in this article shall prohibit the revocation of a certificate of use for existing businesses, which fail to comply with this article.
(c)
In order to obtain a certificate of use, an initial fee shall be paid for the purpose of defraying the costs of all new business inspections and processing. An annual renewal fee shall be paid to defray administrative costs of the certificate of use.
