§ 18-231. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Boarding means the placement of plywood or some type of construction material as a barrier, temporary or permanent, to cover and obscure a window or storefront.

    Downtown means the area lying within the following boundaries: on the north by the north property line of properties fronting on Banyan Boulevard and lying between Flagler Drive and Rosemary Avenue, on the west by the west property line of properties fronting on Rosemary Avenue and lying between Banyan Boulevard and Fern Street, on the south by the south property line of properties fronting on Fern Street and lying between Rosemary Avenue and Flagler Drive, and on the east by the east property line of Flagler Drive.

    Fresh displays means the artwork and displays within the pocket of the window and which have been rotated or changed every 60 days.

    Northwood mixed use district means the area lying within the following boundaries: the alley north of 25th Street on the north; Dixie Highway to the east; 23rd Street to the south; and the F.E.C. Railroad tracks to the west.

    Shuttered means the placement of metal shutters, roll down grates and accordion types of barriers, temporary or permanent, commonly used to protect a building.

    Vacant, under construction and not conducting business for a period of seven consecutive business days mean properties which are not open to the public, or to clientele of any sort, and which buildings are not being used for the display or merchandising of any product. These terms shall not apply to new buildings under construction or new buildings never having been previously occupied, but shall apply to existing buildings conducting internal construction, renovation, maintenance or demolition that does not include the building's edifice.
