§ 18-166. Issuance of license.

  • (a)

    Upon completion of the inspection of the rental dwelling or dwellings, if the building official or designee finds the requirements of article IV of this chapter and other laws have been met, a license shall be issued.

    (b)

    If the requirements of article IV of this chapter or other laws have not been met, a written denial specifying the violations of article IV of this chapter or other laws shall be transmitted to the owner. Upon failure of the owner to correct the violations within 30 days, the building official may provide the owner with a notice and report the violations to a code enforcement officer as provided in chapter 26 of this Code. A license may be issued upon compliance with article IV of this chapter or other laws.

    (c)

    When a license has been denied, expired, suspended or revoked, no further rental and occupancy of a dwelling unit then vacant or which becomes vacant shall be permitted until a license has been issued. The units within the structure which are in compliance with article IV of this chapter or other laws may continue to be occupied if units in other portions of a structure which do not comply do not create a hazard to the health and safety of the persons in the occupied units.
