§ 18-161. Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Rent means periodic payments due the owner from the tenant for residential occupancy of a rental dwelling unit and any other consideration due the owner from the tenant as may be designated as rent.

Rental dwelling unit means a structure or part of a structure used as a home, residence or sleeping place by one tenant or by two or more tenants who maintain a common household for which the owner is receiving, or is entitled to receive, rent or other compensation in any form.
